“Teen Driver? What Every Parent Should Know” Understanding Graduated Driver Licensing, Driver’s Ed Curriculum, and Parents Role for 50-Hours Behind the Wheel
The New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition has developed a program for parents of new teen drivers. The FREE event will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall. The program will feature guest speakers from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office, Lincoln-Way West High School Driver’s Education Department and Country Financial. There will be three components to this program:
Review of the Illinois’ Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Program;
Explanation of what the Driver’s Education curriculum entails, including the classroom and behind-the-wheel portions; and
Information for parents on how to instruct teen drivers during their 50-hours behind the wheel.
Everyone in attendance will receive a GDL Parent-Teen Driving Guide provided by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office and a “Student Driver” magnetic car sign compliments of our event coordinator, Rocky Dellamano from Country Financial.
